In complete contrast to the little girl’s room, here’s a space-saving design for a room shared by two boys. In setting the style you may want to think of the years ahead– years during which the boys will be making the bumpy transition from childhood to teenagers.

There is not a lot that’s “childish” about these colours. The walls are Sandy Brown CC-150 and the ceiling is Honey Harbour CC-170. The baseboards, window trim and closet trim are all Autumn Leaf CC-92. The red certainly raises the excitement level, in an unexpected way. A more subtle blue is used for the work desk and chair, and in contrasting stripes on other furniture.

Small boys always need an incentive to keep things in their place , thus a custom corkboard on the feature wall, for artwork, photos, and special souvenirs. (not shown in this photo) Accessories, shown on the desk, follow an airplane theme, but can easily be replaced as new enthusiasms come along.

The bunk beds are a great way to free up living space; bedding was selected to harmonize with the general colour palette, The combination of textures and patterns keeps this room fresh and modern.

We predict that young boys would be happy with this room now and would likely not want to decorate until their early teens…… after that – who knows?
